The Niger State Government has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Fund with an initial contribution of N50 million.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago presided over the launch at the Council Chamber, Government House, Minna.

In his remarks, Governor Umaru Bago expressed profound appreciation for the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s fallen heroes in maintaining peace and security across the country. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Armed Forces through various initiatives aimed at fostering national peace and stability.

The Governor also pledged continued support for the Nigerian Legion in Niger State, emphasizing that the N50 million appeal fund is intended to help the Legion address some of its pressing challenges.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Chapter, Veteran Mahmud Ahmed Baba, extended his gratitude to Governor Umaru Bago for his consistent support. He highlighted that the N20 million provided by the state government during the 2024 Emblem Appeal Fund was instrumental in securing a permanent office for the Legion, which has been named in honour of the Governor.

Veteran Baba further disclosed that part of the funds were used to support veterans across all 25 local government areas of the state, as well as widows and families of fallen heroes.

He also appealed to individuals and corporate organizations to donate generously to support the veterans, ensuring they receive the care and recognition they deserve.

The event concluded with the decoration of the Governor, who also serves as the Patron of the Nigerian Legion in Niger State, with the emblem. The Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, and other top government officials were similarly decorated.
