In
recognition of his significant contributions to youth and women’s empowerment,
Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky was awarded the “Best Philanthropic and Humanitarian
Service for the Development of Women’s Education in the Nation 2024” by the
National Youths and Women’s Support Initiative Forum (NYWSIF), a civil society
organization and advocacy group.
The
announcement was made in an official letter signed by Ambassador Abdullah
Ibrahim Saraki, the National President of NYWSIF. The organization commended
Sheikh Zakzaky for his unwavering commitment to education and the development
of young people and women across Nigeria.
NYWSIF,
an advocacy group with over 20,000 members, praised his leadership, guidance,
and contributions to national social welfare.
On
Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the forum visited Sheikh Zakzaky at his residence
in Abuja to formally present the award. They described his efforts as “immeasurable”
and highlighted how his dedication has inspired communities to invest in
education and youth development.
A phrase from the letter, “Albarka Tana Wurin Manya” (Blessings are with the elders), encapsulated the deep appreciation expressed for his work. Speaking on behalf of the organization, Ambassador Saraki extended heartfelt gratitude for Sheikh Zakzaky’s selfless contributions to advancing women’s education.
During
the award ceremony, Sheikh Zakzaky urged the group to continue championing
initiatives that uplift youth and women nationwide.
He
emphasized the importance of unity, fairness, and sincerity in their advocacy
efforts. Discussions also focused on pressing issues such as youth
unemployment, drug abuse, and crime, highlighting the need for sustained
educational and social interventions.
The
event celebrated Sheikh Zakzaky’s enduring impact on Nigerian society and
reaffirmed the role of education as a tool for empowerment and national
