The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Saturday visited the site of a devastating petrol tanker explosion in Niger State. He described the incident as tragic and heartbreaking.
In a statement addressing the incident, Governor Abdulrazaq expressed shock over the high number of casualties and the severity of injuries sustained by survivors.
“The Forum is deeply saddened by the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, which has resulted in the loss of dozens of lives and left many others injured,” the statement read.
“The Forum extends its heartfelt condolences to His Excellency, Governor Umar Bago, the families who lost loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families mourning their loved ones, and we wish the injured a swift and complete recovery.”
The NGF Chairman also emphasized the need for greater caution during emergencies involving hazardous materials like petrol spills.
“We urge all citizens to exercise extreme caution and prioritize safety, especially during incidents of grave danger such as petrol spills. The sanctity of human life must always be respected,” the statement continued.
The Forum concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased and calling for collective efforts to prevent such tragedies in the future.
