Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has presented the Third-Class Staff of Office to Gubo Yungur, Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo in Dumne, Song Local Government Area, urging him to prioritize security, justice, equity, tolerance, and solidarity.
Speaking at the ceremony on Thursday, Governor Fintiri emphasized that the creation of the Yungur Chiefdom, along with other chiefdoms and emirates, was part of his administration’s efforts to correct historical imbalances.
“As a historian, I understand the history of our people. There was no justification for the Yungur people to be subjected to the traditional rule of anyone else. I am glad to have rectified this anomaly,” he stated.
In his acceptance speech, Gubo Yungur, Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo, commended Governor Fintiri for his courage and inclusive leadership, pledging to lead with justice, humility, and adherence to the law.
Representing the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, at the event, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mbamba (Walin Adamawa) praised the governor for his commitment to traditional institutions and wished the newly installed Gubo Yungur a successful reign.
In a related development, on Wednesday, Governor Fintiri presented the Second-Class Staff of Office to Alhaji Ahmadu Sani Ribadu, the newly appointed Emir of Fufore, at a ceremony in Fufore.
Speaking at the event, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions to promote unity, good governance, and conflict resolution.
"Starting from Fufore, we are embarking on a journey to foster unity, bind our people together, and extend governance to areas that have been difficult to reach," Fintiri said.
"We are creating more conflict resolution and arbitration points and taking justice closer to the people. We are reinforcing the legitimacy of our traditional institutions, deepening the democratic system, and courageously responding to the demands of our people."
Governor Fintiri congratulated the new Emir and urged him to lead with fairness and wisdom.
"Your selection as the Emir of Fufore is well deserved. I call on you to rally your people and mobilize them for the development of the Emirate," he said.
"You must uphold the principles of justice and fairness, resolve conflicts, and arbitrate disputes within your domain. You must support local intelligence gathering to aid our security system and strengthen social cohesion among your people."
In his acceptance speech, Royal Highness Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu expressed gratitude to the governor for granting him the privilege to serve. He pledged to lead with honesty, fairness, and justice.
Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu is the first Emir of Fufore, appointed by Governor Fintiri following the creation of seven new emirates and chiefdoms in Adamawa State.
