Comrade Umar Maikudi, the newly elected national president, Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria, MOPPAN has vowed to lift the film industry to global standard through international collaboration.

Speaking to Daily Trust in Zaria, the new national president said his focus is to collaborate with major stakeholders in the industry to train potential filmmakers on the art of standard filmmaking.

"The collaboration will also centred on how to monetize film work on platforms like YouTube, iTunes, Twitter, and Instagram.

"I also wants to bring in experts to train filmmakers on cinematography, sound, and lightening to suit international demand." He explained.f

He further expressed commitment to explore area of collaboration with foreign embassies for technical support on scripts writing and other areas of cinematography. 

The National president urged stakeholders and professionals to bring their expertise to bear as level playing ground will be provided to harness more potential for the industry to thrive

Maikudi who is a linguist and lecturer at the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, stated that intellectuals from tertiary institutions will be given level playing ground to inject their potentials to streamline the activities of film industry.

Maikudi popular known as 'Cashman' expressed desire to foster synergy between Kannywood and Nollywood actors to explore potential partnerships that will benefit the industry in Nigeria and beyond.

"We will work together to drive growth and development in the sector and fashion out ways to improve and modernize our activities to suit with the global standard and demand." he said.

Comrade Maikudi 'Cashman' was elected as the national president, Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) at an event in Nasarawa State where participants from across the 36 states and FCT were drawn.
