The Almuhibbah Foundation, in collaboration with Olori Temitope Enitan Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, has distributed special food packages to over 60 malnourished children and provided over 40 bags of baby kits to newborns in Bauchi.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony at Specialist Hospital, Bauchi yesterday, the founder of Almuhibbah Foundation, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, said the initiative was part of activities marking Valentine’s Day, a day dedicated to love and care for the less privileged.
"Valentine’s Day is about love, and this initiative allows us to touch the lives of children and their families in Bauchi," she stated.
She emphasised that the food packages were meant to ensure malnourished children received the essential nourishment they need for healthy growth.
"These children, who have faced immense hardship, deserve every opportunity to thrive. This simple act of kindness is our way of showing love in its purest form," she added.
Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed noted that the baby kits symbolize a collective commitment to ensuring that newborns have the necessary essentials for a healthy start in life.
Aisha Bala Mohammed highlighted the Almuhibbah Foundation’s long-standing dedication to improving healthcare and well-being across Nigeria, particularly in underserved communities.
She added that the foundation has provided free consultations, treatments, and health education to over 15,000 people and more than 1,000 people have had their sight restored through life-changing eye surgeries.
She further said the foundation has donated ambulances to health centers in Abuja and Bauchi, ensuring quick response to medical emergencies.
"Two hospitals have been built in Jamda and Alkaleri, offering essential medical services to communities previously without access and a specialist center has been established to provide care and treatment for those living with sickle cell disease."
According to Bala, Almuhibbah also has covered medical bills for many individuals, ensuring that no one is left behind due to financial constraints.
The Bauchi State Action Committee on Gender-Based Violence, under the Office of the state First Lady, has also provided shelter and support for victims of gender-based violence.
"We are committed to offering protection and a safe space for victims to heal and rebuild their lives," Aisha Bala Mohammed affirmed.
She reaffirmed that health is a fundamental right, stressing the need for sustained efforts to ensure that the most vulnerable in society have access to healthcare and essential support.
"Through our combined efforts, we can create a future where every child is nourished, every individual has access to healthcare, and every community is empowered with the resources they need to thrive," she said.
She also commended Her Royal Majesty Tomitope Enitan Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, for her dedication to improving lives, acknowledging her impactful role in the partnership.
In her remarks, Olori Temitope Enitan Ogunwusi emphasised that the event marked the eighth edition of the Hope Alive Initiative, a program dedicated to supporting vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
"Every day, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Ogunwusi, serves humanity and cares for people. He believes in creating opportunities for individuals to live a good life," she said.
She stressed that Valentine’s Day was a perfect occasion to extend love to those in need, particularly women and children who require support.
"There is no love without action. We have brought these gifts to celebrate babies born in this season of love. This initiative is being carried out simultaneously across the country in our little way," Olori Temitope Enitan added.
