The Niger State Government has received the master plan for the Gurara Waterfalls project, a key initiative aimed at boosting tourism and economic development in the state.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago received the plan from the project’s Lead Architect, Elise Van Gass-Vivers, at the Niger State Liaison Office in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Governor Bago emphasized the significance of tourism in fostering prosperity and social harmony, stressing that it should not be underestimated. He assured that the project would commence soon, with a well-defined timeline for completion, as its components align with his administration’s vision for economic growth and infrastructural development.
The governor also commended the Lead Architect and her team for their efforts in designing a comprehensive master plan that reflects the state's aspirations.
Earlier, the Lead Architect, Elise Van Gass-Vivers, stated that work on the master plan began during previous administrations. She expressed confidence that the project would progress smoothly under the current leadership.
Highlighting key features of the plan, she noted that the project includes the development of essential facilities such as hotels, a wildlife park, a conference center, a golf course, and a 100-hectare university site. Additionally, provisions have been made for farmlands, staff quarters, and a Shea butter processing plant. These components, she said, are designed to significantly enhance revenue generation for the state.
Van Gass-Vivers reiterated her optimism that the multi-faceted project would come to fruition, contributing to the state’s long-term economic sustainability and positioning Gurara Waterfalls as a major tourism hub.
With the state government’s commitment to implementation, the project is expected to transform Gurara Waterfalls into a world-class tourist destination, creating employment opportunities and stimulating local businesses.
