The Commandant of the Dandume Community Watch Corps (KTCWC) in Dandume Local Government Area, Major A.L. Ibrahim (Rtd), has accused troops deployed in the area of colluding with bandits who terrorize the region.

Major Ibrahim made this allegation during an interview with journalists in Funtua town, the headquarters of Funtua Local Government, on Monday.

According to him, the actions of the troops are undermining joint security operations. He claimed that the Katsina Community Watch Corps, under his supervision, had recently arrested an arms and ammunition supplier, Saminu Muhammad of Dankolo village in Dandume LGA. The suspect was handed over to the troops stationed in the Machika area, but they allegedly released him unconditionally.

He further alleged that his life is being threatened by some of the troops in the area.

"My life is under threat from the troops in Faskari Local Government, and I am calling on the relevant authorities to take urgent action against them," he said.

"I want to reiterate that if anything happens to me, my family, or my officers, the troops should be held accountable because they are seriously threatening our lives," he added.

Major Ibrahim specifically accused one Captain Rabiu and Lieutenant Friday Jeremiah of sabotaging the fight against banditry in Sabuwa and Dandume LGAs. He urged the Chief of Army Staff, the National Security Adviser, and the Minister of Defense to establish a committee to investigate them.

"I am calling on the Chief of Army Staff, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Defense to monitor the activities of the troops deployed in Sabuwa and Dandume LGAs, as they pose a major challenge in the fight against banditry," he stated.

He also alleged that the troops are unwilling to collaborate with other security agencies in tackling banditry in the region.

"We are fully prepared to work alongside all relevant security agencies to combat terrorism. However, our major challenge is that the troops deployed in these areas are not cooperating. In fact, we suspect they are colluding with these dreaded terrorists," he added.
