The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), H.E. Silas Agara, has announced the commencement of payments to beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Empowerment Initiative.

Agara made this disclosure during his visit to the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) office in Abuja.

Launched on December 6, 2024, the three-month initiative aims to empower 93,731 youths, women, and persons with disabilities across the country. He emphasized that inclusiveness is a core objective, with 30,000 slots specifically allocated to beneficiaries from the PWD community.

During his visit, Agara confirmed that the NDE had successfully concluded empowerment training for persons with disabilities and other target groups.

He expressed gratitude to the National Commission for PWD for its collaboration and stressed that beneficiaries must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and a passport photograph to ensure accountability. He reiterated that the NDE will not process payments for unidentified individuals, reinforcing the integrity of the initiative.

Agara also highlighted the NDE’s partnership with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to provide startup packs for beneficiaries, further enhancing the program's impact.

In response, Hon. Ayuba Gufwan Burki, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, praised Agara’s innovative approach and lauded the inclusiveness of the initiative. He emphasized that the training programs provide a vital platform for individuals with disabilities to unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
