Popular social media skit maker, Bello Habib Galadanci, widely known as Dan Bello, has accused Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, leader of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), of involvement in a multi-million naira contract fraud.
In a viral video, Dan Bello claimed that, in collaboration with Bauchi-based investigative news platform Wikkitimes, he uncovered significant financial irregularities linked to Sheikh Lau and companies allegedly connected to JIBWIS.
However, JIBWIS swiftly refuted the allegations in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, dismissing them as false and misleading. The group accused Dan Bello of spreading misinformation to tarnish its leader’s reputation.
According to Dan Bello, Sheikh Lau is linked to over 30 bank accounts and was involved in questionable financial transactions between 2021 and 2023. He referenced a specific case from December 19, 2022, where a company named M & A Integrated Services allegedly received over N130 million for constructing five classrooms in Borno, Kaduna, and Plateau states—projects he claimed were never completed. He supported his claims with images of old, dilapidated classrooms.
JIBWIS, however, defended its leader, stating that the classroom project was a constituency project of Rep. Mukhtar Aliyu Betara, who had assigned JIBWIS to oversee its implementation, as the schools were intended for the group.
Regarding the JIBWIS College of Education in Jega, the group clarified that the initiative was launched by Senator Adamu Aliero and was fully executed under his supervision.
JIBWIS further announced plans to take legal action against Dan Bello, challenging him to present his evidence in court.
