The APC Peace Initiatives Group has cautioned Hon. Aminu Jaji, a Federal House of Representatives member from Zamfara State, against destabilizing the party ahead of his rumored defection to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Friday, the group accused Jaji of secretly collaborating with the PDP to advance his political ambitions, while also promoting division within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group’s Secretary General, Alhaji Ahmed Bako, alleged that Jaji’s recent actions demonstrate an intent to undermine party unity. He further accused Jaji of sponsoring youths to spread falsehoods against the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, and the Zamfara State APC leadership.
“We strongly condemn the attempted blackmail and mischief against Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, and other APC leaders in Zamfara State by individuals operating under the guise of the Member representing Kaura Namoda-Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency,” the statement read.
The APC Peace Initiatives Group commended the state’s party leadership, led by Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, for demonstrating political maturity in handling Jaji’s alleged attacks.
The group also urged the APC national leadership to take decisive action against individuals working against the party’s unity and accused Jaji’s support group of fueling political intolerance to gain influence within the state’s party structure.
“We challenge Jaji’s group to provide evidence of their commitment to the APC’s progress. Hiding behind President Tinubu’s 2023 campaign structure will not make them disciplined leaders,” the statement added.
The group further stated that Jaji’s supporters were becoming increasingly desperate, boasting about his political record while ignoring the reality that electoral outcomes are determined by divine will.
“We praise the leadership of the APC in Zamfara State for their patience and resilience in the face of Jaji’s provocations. Their ability to absorb these attacks with maturity is commendable,” the statement concluded.
