The Arewa Youth Congress has reiterated its strong commitment to national unity, inclusive governance, and fairness in appointments, particularly in the health sector.
This came in response to the recent leadership transition at the Dental Therapists Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN).
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Arewa House Auditorium in Kaduna, the Speaker of the Congress, Amb. Hassan Sadau Mohammed, commended the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, for his “consistent promotion of equity and representation.”
According to the group, under Dr. Salako’s leadership, nine out of 14 regulatory agencies in the health sector are currently headed by individuals from Northern Nigeria—an outcome the Congress described as “a clear demonstration of adherence to the Federal Character principle and a testament to his inclusive leadership style.”
The Congress further praised the outgoing Registrar of the DTRBN, Mrs. Mercy Omowunmi Ojo, for what it called a transparent and impactful tenure.
“Her administration ensured fair representation across all geopolitical zones and paid special attention to the development of the Arewa region. Her peaceful and credible handover was highlighted as a legacy of leadership worth emulating,” the group said.
Looking ahead, the Arewa Youth Congress declared its full support for the newly appointed Registrar, Dr. Dele Anisere, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead with integrity, professionalism, and a national outlook.
“This is a time for collaboration, not conflict,” the Congress stated. “Any patriotic Nigerian who believes in peace, unity, and progress must support this transition and work towards building a stronger Nigeria.”
The group also acknowledged the role of Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, for his strategic leadership and efforts to reform and stabilize the health sector, adding that “his inclusive approach continues to inspire confidence in the system.”
In conclusion, Amb. Mohammed reaffirmed the Congress’s commitment to advocating for peace, national integration, and equal opportunities for all citizens.
“We pledge to continue supporting leaders and institutions that uphold these values,” he said.
