The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 17 academic programmes at Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), marking a significant achievement in the institution’s pursuit of academic excellence.

Mr. Auwal Hassan, the University spokesperson said in a press release yesterday that the milestone affirmed SAZU’s commitment to providing quality education across a diverse range of disciplines.

The accredited courses, spanning various faculties and departments, include Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Agriculture, Arabic, Human Physiology, Public Health, Anatomy, Law, Pharm D, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Science Laboratory Technology, and Zoology.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, hailed the development as a crucial step in achieving the university's vision of academic excellence and nation-building.

She extended heartfelt appreciation to the state Governor and Visitor to the University, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his steadfast support and commitment to SAZU's growth.

It will be recalled that on November 22, 2024, a high-powered accreditation panel from the NUC visited the university as part of its October/November 2024 accreditation exercise.

In a letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by the Executive Secretary of the NUC and addressed to Governor Mohammed, the commission confirmed that the accreditation complies with Section 10(1) of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. This section mandates the NUC to set and enforce minimum academic standards for programmes offered in Nigerian universities.

Auwal stated that with this approval, SAZU is now better positioned to compete with other leading universities across Nigeria.

The institution reaffirmed its dedication to producing graduates equipped to drive societal progress through innovation, knowledge, and service.
