The Southern Kaduna Youth Stakeholders Forum has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for their roles in establishing the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Kafanchan, praising their commitment to the region's development.

In a statement signed by the forum’s Director of Research and Documentation, Engineer Seth Bakut Habila, the group also lauded Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, the House of Representatives member representing the area, for what they described as his pivotal role in actualizing the long-awaited project.

According to the forum, the FMC was made possible through the benevolence of President Tinubu, with Magaji ensuring legislative backing, including securing over N1.7 billion in budgetary appropriations for its take-off.

Engineer Habila clarified that the bill establishing the FMC underwent a public hearing between March 27 and 28, 2024, and was later finalized by the House Committee on Healthcare Institutions, chaired by Hon. Magaji, before being presented to the House on October 10, 2024.

The group, however, took issue with Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, accusing him of attempting to claim credit for the project. They described the senator’s actions as politically motivated and potentially divisive, warning that his comments could undermine both the presidency and the region's developmental strides.

They also criticized Katung’s assertion that budgetary provisions could not be made before a bill’s assent, labeling it a misrepresentation of legislative procedures. “His comments show a lack of understanding of how appropriation works in the National Assembly,” the forum stated.

The forum further questioned the motive behind Katung’s reported move to initiate a fresh bill for another FMC in the same town, describing it as an unnecessary duplication and a ploy to stir political discord.

In contrast, they commended Governor Uba Sani’s efforts, particularly his contribution to the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital and his facilitation of over 170 hectares of land for the proposed Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia.

The forum pledged unwavering support for President Tinubu, Governor Sani, and the APC, promising to mobilize at least one million votes for their re-election bids. They also reaffirmed their commitment to peace and development in Southern Kaduna.

“We urge Senator Katung to prioritize regional unity over political ambition,” the statement concluded.

The statement was officially signed and released by Engineer Seth Bakut Habila on behalf of the Southern Kaduna Youth Stakeholders Forum.
