In a bold initiative to bridge educational gaps and empower future generations, the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS), in collaboration with the Aspire Alliance for Niger State Youths (AANY), launched a major free educational outreach on Monday, May 5, 2025. The program saw the distribution of vital school supplies to thousands of public primary school pupils across the state.
The flag-off ceremony, held at Dr. Umaru Farouk Bahago Primary School in Minna, marked the beginning of a statewide campaign aimed at encouraging underprivileged children to embrace education by providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Aisha O. Muhammad, Commissioner for Stamp Duties at NGSIRS, described the initiative as a crucial investment in the state’s future. She said, “We believe in the power of education to break the cycle of poverty and unlock human potential. When we equip our children with knowledge and resources, we are not just building students—we are raising future leaders, innovators, and nation-builders.”
School bags, exercise books, writing materials, packs of chalk, and sporting equipment were among the items distributed to the pupils.
Dr. Aliyu Haruna Sani, founder of AANY, commended the partnership with NGSIRS and the Niger State government, urging pupils to make the most of the opportunity. “These materials are more than just gifts—they are tools for greatness. Use them wisely,” he told the children.
To ensure transparency and evaluate the impact of the program, Dr. Aliyu announced the formation of a Monitoring and Evaluation team that will gather feedback from teachers, parents, and pupils. The team will assess improvements in school attendance and academic performance to guide future interventions.
The first phase of the outreach will cover more public schools in Minna, Bida, Suleja, and Kontagora, with plans for expansion across the state.
With millions of Nigerian children still out of school, initiatives like this provide a crucial lifeline. As pupils return to class with brand-new supplies, Niger State moves a step closer to a more inclusive and educated future.
