Zamfara State's political landscape witnessed a significant shake-up as the Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Alhaji Muhammad Bala Nasarawar Burkullu, alongside the party’s state executive and 14 local government officials, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors were formally received into the APC by Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Aminu Sani Jaji, during a rally under the banner of the Jajiya Political Movement.
Joining them was another influential political figure, Alhaji Sani Bawa Damaga from Maradun Local Government Area, who also led hundreds of his loyal supporters into the APC.
The wave of defections marks a significant win for the APC, particularly for the Jajiya Movement, a dominant political structure in the state led by Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya Anka.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Muhammad Bala said their decision to join the APC was motivated by the party’s growing influence in Zamfara and nationwide, as well as the strength and appeal of the Jajiya political structure.
“We are convinced by the unity, vision, and leadership of Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji and the Jajiya Political Movement. We are here to stay and contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear state,” he stated.
In a similar vein, Alhaji Sani Bawa Damaga praised Hon. Jaji for his quality representation, citing numerous developmental projects facilitated by the lawmaker across Zamfara State.
“The people of Maradun Local Government will continue to remain loyal to the APC under the leadership of Hon. Aminu Jaji for the progress and wellbeing of Zamfara State,” he said.
Receiving the defectors, the Chairman of the APC under the Jajiya Political Movement, Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya Anka, welcomed them warmly and assured them of equal opportunities within the party. He described the Jajiya Movement as the most organized and far-reaching political group in Zamfara, with active grassroots structures in all 14 local government areas.
“You are all welcome into our great party. There will be no discrimination. We urge you to actively participate in our activities and promote unity and peace for the strength of the APC,” he added.
Representing Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji at the occasion, former Zamfara State Commissioner of Higher Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Gurbin-Bore, commended the defection as a strategic and patriotic move.
Dr. Jaji, who also chairs the House Committee on Ecological Fund, assured the new members of fairness, inclusiveness, and collaboration aimed at consolidating the APC’s dominance in the state.
“Your decision to join the APC is commendable. With your experience and political strength, we will build a stronger party. Stay committed and contribute your quota to the growth of the APC in Zamfara and Nigeria,” he said.
The event further signals growing momentum within the APC as it continues to attract key political figures and supporters across Zamfara State.
