When the Ummah Feared Death: A prophecy fulfilled in Palestine - By Igho Hakeem Ohwojeheri

Since Iran started retaliating against the illegal entity of Israel, and the west started seeing the resulting destruction that Iran is inflicting on the pirate state, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and other Western nations are openly supporting Israel and even taking actions against Iran.

In stark contrast, Israel has relentlessly bombarded Gaza—flattening homes, hospitals, schools, shelters, and even ambulances. Over twenty thousand children have been killed. Yet, no Muslim nation has meaningfully intervened to aid the Palestinians. Many appear paralyzed by fear—fear of economic consequences and threats to national security.

This reality brings to mind a Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), in which he foretold a time when nations would gather against the Muslims as people gather around a feast. The Muslims, he said, would be great in number but weak—like the foam on the sea. Allah would remove the fear of Muslims from the hearts of their enemies because the Muslims would grow attached to the world and fear death.

Today, we see this prophecy unfolding. Saudi Arabia is focused on becoming a global tourism hub, competing with Dubai and Qatar. Egypt—home to one of the strongest armies in the Muslim world—shares a border with occupied Palestine. From Egypt, one can witness the genocide in Gaza with the naked eye, yet they remain passive. Syria, having barely emerged from years of war, is focused on rebuilding and securing itself. The suffering of the Palestinians has become a secondary concern.

Every Muslim nation appears to be prioritizing its own interests. As a result, our enemies neither respect us nor fear us. We have become like scattered debris—disunited, weakened, and dishonored.

Had we stood united in justice and solidarity, the Israeli onslaught on Gaza would have been halted long ago. Israel would not dare provoke a confrontation with Iran or any united Muslim front. But in our disunity and love for worldly comfort, we have lost our dignity, and with it, the strength that comes from true faith and collective resolve.
