In a move aimed at boosting staff morale and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, the Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engineer Muhammad Jamil Ahmad (Jaga), has approved the payment of the 2025 annual leave allowance to all local government employees.

The payment, which was disbursed on Monday, June 2, 2025, comes well ahead of the Eid al-Adha (Sallah Babba) celebrations, allowing staff to prepare for the festive period with financial ease.

The gesture is part of the Chairman’s broader agenda to promote inclusive governance and improve the well-being of public servants. It also highlights a consistent pattern of prioritising employee welfare under his leadership.

The Director of Administration and Finance, Alhaji Akilu Zailani, praised the Chairman for what he described as a “proactive and people-focused” initiative. He urged staff to reciprocate the goodwill by showing greater commitment and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

Echoing the sentiment, Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Zaria Branch, Comrade Isma’ila Umar, expressed appreciation on behalf of the workers. He described the payment as a morale booster and pledged continued cooperation and support for the administration’s development goals.

The initiative was the result of effective collaboration between the local government leadership and NULGE, ensuring smooth implementation without administrative delays.

Engineer Ahmad’s administration has earned praise for its transparent governance and steady investment in human capital, setting a benchmark for people-oriented leadership in the region.
