The Bauchi State Youth Network for Peace and Development Initiatives has lauded the leadership and operational strides of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency in combating crime across the state.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit to the agency by the group, led by its chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Shehu. Speaking to journalists shortly after the visit, Dr. Shehu praised the agency’s achievements under the leadership of its Commander General, Dr. Umar Aliyu Shayi.
He noted that, "This agency under the able leadership of Commander General Umar Shayi has recorded significant success in the fight against banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, phone snatching, and other forms of criminal activity in the state."
Dr. Shehu emphasized that the achievements would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of conventional security agencies operating in Bauchi State. He also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his continuous commitment to peace and development.
"We urge all citizens to continue praying for the progress of Bauchi State and the success of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration," he added.
In his response, Commander General Dr. Umar Aliyu Shayi appreciated the Youth Network for the visit and their interest in supporting peace-building and community development efforts.
He acknowledged the vital support the agency has received from Governor Bala Mohammed, saying, "The governor has consistently supported this agency with the necessary assistance to fulfill its mandate in line with the law."
Dr. Shayi assured the public that the agency remains committed to upholding the rule of law, professionalism, due process, and the protection of fundamental human rights in all its operations.
