His Highness, Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has been appointed as an Ambassador of the Kaduna State Multi-Door Courthouse (ADR) Centre to champion Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms within his emirate.
This was announced in a press statement issued by the Media and Publicity Officer of the Zazzau Emirate Council, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, who disclosed that the Emir received his letter of credence dated July 28, 2025, signed by the Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Hon. Justice Mohammed Tukur Mu'azu Aliyu.
According to the letter, the Emir’s role as an ADR Ambassador includes the promotion of mediation and other non-litigation pathways for resolving disputes within communities — a recognition of the Emirate Council’s significant achievements in resolving conflicts outside the courtroom.
"In the past two years alone, the Zazzau Emirate Council has successfully resolved over 2,000 cases, including land disputes, matrimonial issues, inheritance, and debt-related matters,” the statement revealed.
It added that the Council attends to an average of two to five cases daily, Monday through Thursday, significantly reducing the burden on the formal judicial system.
The Emir’s dedication to grassroots justice initiatives has received notable recognition. Earlier this year, the Chief Judge of Kaduna State paid a working visit to the Zazzau Palace to assess the Council’s ADR mechanisms. Similarly, Justice Darius Khob, Chairman of the Small Claims Court Committee, also visited recently — further highlighting the success and replicability of the emirate's approach.
The statement emphasized that the Emir’s appointment is a testament to his unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and community harmony.
By accepting this new role, Emir Bamalli is expected to strengthen the bridge between traditional institutions and the judiciary in ensuring accessible, efficient, and culturally sensitive conflict resolution across Kaduna State.
