The Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Council of the Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau (SAZU), appointing renowned educationist and erudite scholar, Prof. Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, as the Chairperson.
This was announced in a press release issued by Mukhtar Gidado, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor on Thursday, said the development follows the submission of the report of the Visitation Panel constituted to assess the state of affairs of institution.
According to the statement, the reconstitution of the Council aligns with the administration’s unwavering commitment to repositioning the university for academic excellence, improved governance, and sustainable development.
It added that Prof. Abdullahi is expected to bring to the role vast experience, impeccable academic credentials, and a deep passion for higher education reform.
Other members of the new Governing Council include: Alhaji Suleiman G. Abdulkadir; Professor Isa Yashi; Professor Sabo Hamma; Professor Mohammed Babangida; Comfort Audu; a Representative of Ministry of Higher Education and Representative of the office of the Head of Civil Service, Bauchi.
Governor Bala Mohammed urged the new leadership of the governing council to work in collaboration with the university management and all stakeholders to reposition Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau, as a center of excellence and innovation in tertiary education.
Governor Mohammed congratulated Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi and other newly appointed members of the council on their well-deserved appointment and wishes them success in this important and challenging assignment.
