The Bauchi State High Court No. 14 has issued an interlocutory injunction directing the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to maintain the status quo in the ongoing leadership tussle between the caretaker committee and the elected executive members in Bauchi state.

The court fixed July 24, 2025, for the hearing of the substantive suit.

According to a certified true copy of the court order signed by the Registrar, Abdulmalik Labaran, the court ruled, "That and order of interlocutory Injunction be and is hereby granted directing the Defendant/Respondent to maintain status quo or to stay any action regarding those offices until the final determination of the substantive suit."

The suit, filed under case number BA/41/2025, was instituted by elected NNPP leaders including Nazif Inuwa Malami, Sirajo Mahmood, and Alhaji Ya’u Sabon Kaura, who are suing on behalf of elected state, local government, and ward executive committee members of the party in Bauchi State.

The defendants/respondents are: New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), National Working Committee of the NNPP, Alhaji Abdullahi Ali Muhammad (Caretaker Committee Chairman), Hon. Kabiru Bappa Shira, Ibrahim Sulaiman, Anas Dauda Mai Unguwa and Shawudi Abdullahi.

The plaintiffs filed their application via a motion on notice dated February 19, 2025, supported by a 22-paragraph affidavit, and accompanied by three exhibits and a written address. The motion was argued by S. U. Aliyu, Esq., counsel to the claimants.

The court stated that after carefully reviewing all the processes filed by the parties, including the affidavits and written addresses, it was persuaded to grant the interim reliefs sought by the applicants.

Reacting to the development while speaking with journalists yesterday in Bauchi, Nazif Malamin Kasuwa, the NNPP State Youth Leader, lauded the court's decision. He said the party in Bauchi remains committed to promoting its vision, mission, and values across the state.

"We are pleased to inform the public that the court has issued an order halting the activities of the caretaker committee previously declared as the leadership of the party in Bauchi State."

Nazif reaffirmed the group's unwavering loyalty to the party’s National Leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and expressed appreciation for his visionary leadership.

He also commended Engineer Buba Galadima, Secretary-General of the NNPP Board of Trustees, and reiterated full support for the National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmad, and all members of the party's National Working Committee.
