Dr. Imam, accompanied by members of his management team, was warmly received by community elders who led him to the palace of the Odafe of Enwan, His Royal Highness, Chief Peter O. Okarah (Udo II). Among those present was Dr. Bamidele O. B. Agbadua, Rector of the National Institute of Construction Technology and Management (NICTM), Uromi.
In his remarks, Chief Okarah expressed profound gratitude for the visit, noting the significance of the collaboration with NILEST. He appealed on behalf of the community for the immediate activation of the centre, describing it as crucial to empowering local youths and boosting economic development through skills acquisition.
Responding, Dr. Imam assured the traditional ruler and the community of NILEST’s commitment to establishing a functional skills acquisition centre in Enwan. He stated that the institute would prioritise training in leather production and leather-based products, aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the people.
“The partnership with Enwan community will not only strengthen NILEST’s outreach but also contribute to national efforts in promoting skills acquisition, especially in the leather sector,” Dr. Imam said.
This was contained in a statement signed and released by Nuhu Basheer Masa, Personal Assistant on Media and Communication to the DG of NILEST.
