The Fulani Youth Sai Bago Again Organisation has announced plans to train Fulani herders on the importance of insurance registration.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the Chairman of the organisation, Ambassador Mujahid Adam, said the decision followed concerns over the hardship faced by Fulani herders and the absence of any structured humanitarian assistance for them. According to him, the organisation will engage animal health experts and insurance agency officials to sensitize herders on the need to register for insurance, so they can recover or mitigate losses in the event of any disaster.

Ambassador Mujahid noted that herders frequently suffer from calamities such as disease outbreaks, cattle theft, and banditry. Insurance, he said, offers an opportunity for them to protect their livelihoods and reduce their vulnerability.

He explained that the one-day sensitization and training program will be provided free of charge and will cover all 25 local government areas of Niger State.

Ambassador Mujahid further stated, “Farmer Umaru Bago has introduced several initiatives to improve the lives of herders. We must complement his efforts by contributing from our own resources to support the government’s vision for herders. We have not asked for anything from the government or any agency. This is our personal responsibility. We have many initiatives planned to improve the lives of herders and their families before the end of this administration so that the government leaves a legacy Fulani herders will always remember.”

He acknowledged the ongoing data collection exercise initiated by the Niger State Government through the Ministry for Pastoral Affairs, aimed at capturing accurate records of herders and their livestock. Ambassador Mujahid said they expect this exercise to be completed soon to support infrastructure development, including grazing fees collection for revenue generation, which they fully support.

He stressed that herders could only benefit from public amenities such as healthcare services, upgraded nomadic schools, and other social services if proper data is available and insurance registration is embraced.

“In cases of disasters, insurance guarantees direct support for herders and their families. That is why we must take insurance registration seriously,” he emphasized.

Ambassador Mujahid also urged Fulani youth, especially those in rural areas, to pursue both Islamic and Western education, warning that ignorance often leads young people into unproductive or destructive behavior.

“No educated person would willingly involve themselves in unlawful activities. Parents must also take responsibility for raising and educating their children, ensuring they receive both religious and modern education, abide by the law, and avoid taking matters into their own hands. Lawlessness only brings harm to the community,” he said.

He added that the administration of Governor Umaru Bago deserves continued support and loyalty from the Fulani community.

Ambassador Mujahid concluded by calling on community leaders and traditional rulers to encourage mass participation in voter registration.

“Without voters, we have no political voice. As voter registration resumes, we must encourage our eligible children and young people to get their voter cards so we can continue supporting Governor Umaru Bago and his mission for Fulani herders whenever elections are held,” he said.
