Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s financial sector and promoting educational development, especially in Zaria and Kaduna State.

This was contained in a statement signed by Nuhu Basheer Masa, Personal Assistant on Media and Communication to the Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam.

Dr. Imam, who represented the Speaker, delivered his address at the opening ceremony of the maiden International Conference on Finance, organised by the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, on Tuesday.

The conference, themed “Digital Transformation: Navigation…”, was chaired by former Minister of Agriculture, Professor Ahmad Sheikh Muhammad, and co-chaired by Professor Karwai.

Speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Dr. Imam stressed the need for impactful deliberations capable of repositioning the country’s financial system. He pointed out the crucial role of digital transformation in shaping the future of Nigeria’s economy.

The statement further highlighted Speaker Abbas’s numerous interventions in the education sector, including the facilitation of N4 billion for infrastructural development at ABU and other projects across tertiary institutions in Zaria and Kaduna State.

It also recalled the Speaker’s academic journey, noting that he obtained his diploma, bachelor's, and master's degrees from ABU before earning his PhD at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

The event attracted academics, policymakers, and financial experts from across the country, focusing on innovative strategies to advance Nigeria’s financial landscape.
