The Dangote Refinery has begun the phased receipt of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks ahead of the commencement of its petroleum products distribution operations across Nigeria.
The development is part of the company’s logistics programme, which will herald the start of product distribution this month.
In June, the refinery announced an investment of over N720 billion in the landmark project, which it said could save Nigerians more than N1.7 trillion annually. It is also projected to benefit over 42 million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by reducing energy costs and boosting profitability.
By eliminating transportation costs for fuel marketers and large-scale consumers, the initiative is anticipated to help lower pump prices and ease inflationary pressures. From 15 August, Dangote will begin direct delivery of petrol and diesel to filling stations, industrial facilities, and other high-volume consumers.
