The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has appealed to the Budget Office of the Federation to support the institution’s efforts on staff recruitment and the resolution of outstanding financial claims owed to staff.

The Vice-Chancellor made the appeal on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Budget Office, Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, in Abuja. He was accompanied by the university’s Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila, and the Bursar, Malam Mohammed Bello Aminu Gurin.

According to a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, the meeting focused on “issues of staff recruitment and all outstanding claims of staff.”

During the engagement, Professor Ahmed expressed his appreciation for the warm reception accorded his delegation, describing the meeting as productive and encouraging.

“We are deeply grateful to the Director-General and the entire leadership of the Budget Office for their understanding and hospitality,” the Vice-Chancellor said.

The Budget Office, in response, provided advisory guidance on staff recruitment and expressed willingness to review the university’s submissions concerning pending financial claims—subject to available budgetary provisions.

The Director-General, Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, was supported at the meeting by the Director of Expenditure (Socials), Mr. Yusuf Muhammad, who also participated in the discussions with the ABU delegation.

The visit is seen as part of ABU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with key federal institutions and address critical administrative and financial challenges affecting the university’s operations.
