In a show of compassion and grassroots leadership, Hon. Alkasim Abdullahi, the Councillor representing Yara Ward, has flagged off the distribution of 500 loaves of bread to support less privileged residents in his constituency.
The initiative, flagged off during a well-attended event in Yara, was aimed at alleviating hunger and cushioning the impact of rising food prices on vulnerable households.
Daily Struggle reports that the event drew a crowd of supporters, community stakeholders, and residents — all commending the Councillor for his hands-on approach to governance.
While addressing the gathering, Hon. Alkasim stated that the distribution of bread was part of his continued effort to bring relief to the people at the grassroots level. He emphasised that leadership should be felt not only through policies but through direct and deliberate action.
“This is a small but important step toward supporting our people. Times are tough, and we must continue to stand by one another,” he said.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and thoughtful. “This may seem small to some, but to us, it is a big help,” said Malam Shehu, a resident of Yara Ward. “We thank our Councillor for remembering the common man.”
