The Director-General of the Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs, today chaired a high-level Peace and Conflict Management meeting at the Bureau's headquarters, with a renewed commitment to curbing misleading religious preaching and fostering unity across the state.

According to a press statement signed by the DG’s Media Aide, Amb. Haruna Mustapha (Dago), the meeting centred on the formal presentation of Da'awah registration forms and certificates to members of the Peace and Conflict Management Committee — a strategic move aimed at promoting responsible religious propagation and preventing misunderstandings within communities.

During the meeting, the Director-General emphasised that the registration process is a critical step toward ensuring accountability among Islamic scholars and clerics. He said the initiative is designed to standardise Da'awah activities, prevent the spread of divisive messages, and strengthen inter-religious harmony.

As part of the resolutions reached, attendees agreed to establish a supervisory committee that will oversee the Da'awah registration process and implementation across the state.

“All Islamic scholars and clerics in Niger State are expected to collect the Da'awah registration forms between 4th and 30th September,” the DG stated. “After collection, applicants will be subjected to a test before certificates authorising them to carry out Da'awah activities are issued.”

The Director-General reiterated the Bureau’s commitment to maintaining religious unity and upholding the integrity of religious teachings in the state. He also urged all stakeholders to cooperate fully with the new measures to ensure peace, tolerance, and respect for diverse views in the religious space.
