Former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Andrew Yakubu, and Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) International Golf Club, Dr. Peter Deshi, have paid a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, following the death of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.

The condolence visit took place at Professor Yilwatda’s residence in Abuja, where the duo extended their heartfelt sympathies over the passing of Mama Lydia, who died at the age of 83 at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Describing her as a devoted Christian, a virtuous woman leader, and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Yakubu and Deshi said her death was not only a personal loss to the Yilwatda family but also a significant blow to the APC family in Plateau State and beyond.

They recalled her contributions, alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, to the growth of the church across Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau states.

“Mama Lydia’s passing is painful and devastating to the Yilwatda family, especially at a time when her wisdom, prayers, and motherly counsel were most needed—particularly by Professor Yilwatda,” they noted.

They also expressed solace in the legacy she left behind, particularly her well-accomplished children.

“Her demise is a great loss not only to the Church and Women’s Fellowship but also to the entire Plateau community,” they added.

Concluding their visit, Engr. Yakubu and Dr. Deshi prayed for the peaceful repose of Mama Lydia’s soul and for strength and comfort for the bereaved family.
