The Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a 22-member Fact-Finding Committee to assess the deployment and effectiveness of security personnel across schools, courts, and health facilities in the state.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, emphasised that the committee is not a fault-finding panel but one tasked with ensuring that the objectives behind engaging security service providers in these institutions are being achieved. He noted that the initiative aims to improve accountability and strengthen safety in key public institutions.
The committee is expected to review the recruitment process of security personnel, verify employment lists to confirm the local origin of beneficiaries, and establish the commencement dates of allowance payments. It will also identify personnel who have not received their payments, determine the number of months owed, and provide relevant recommendations to the government.
Chairman of the committee, Engineer Gambo A. Malam, who also serves as the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Transport, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the members. He assured the government and the public that the committee would approach the task with seriousness, transparency, and commitment.
The 22-member committee is made up of commissioners, lawmakers, special advisers, senior assistants, representatives of various ministries and agencies, and is supported by a secretary from the SSG’s office in Dutse. The committee has been given four weeks to complete its assignment and submit a comprehensive report to the state government.
