The Huriyya Dauda Lawal, First Lady of Zamfara State, has concluded a statewide Ramadan food distribution tour covering all 14 local government areas of the state.
The tour, which began in Shinkafi and ended in Gusau, saw the distribution of 50,000 food packages containing essential items such as rice, beans, and cooking oil.
Speaking at the event to round off the exercise in Gusau on Monday, the governor’s wife said that, in addition to food items, the packages also included clothing materials for women and cash support for vulnerable groups.
She also disclosed that special packages were distributed to widows, orphans, and other less privileged persons across the state.
The First Lady expressed appreciation to local distribution committees for ensuring fair and transparent allocation of the items across the 14 local government areas.
She commended the state governor, stakeholders, and partners for their support, while praying for peace, unity, and continued progress in Zamfara State and Nigeria.
A cross-section of beneficiaries praised the First Lady’s outreach programme, describing it as a commendable gesture that brought relief directly to communities.
One of the beneficiaries, Rashida Aliyu, said, “We must commend and thank the First Lady for her unique way of serving the citizens. As you can see, everyone here received their full package.”
