The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has dismissed its Secretary-General, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim Adeniyi, over alleged misconduct and breach of trust.

The decision was reached at a meeting held on September 25, presided over by the Deputy National President (Administration), Ambassador Mohammed Abubakar Bishara. The NEC adopted the recommendations of a seven-member investigative committee set up to probe the allegations against Adeniyi.

In a statement jointly signed by the National President, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, and the newly appointed Secretary-General, Comrade Henry Ejiefor Ugwu, the association announced that Adeniyi is no longer authorised to act, function, or present himself in any capacity as Secretary-General of RTEAN.

Ugwu has been appointed to replace him with immediate effect.

The NEC also constituted another committee, chaired by Dr. Samuel Agbede with Hon. Adamu Zubairu Jalaluddeen as Secretary, to further investigate the matter.

According to RTEAN, the disciplinary action was taken in strict compliance with its constitution and in line with the provisions of the Trade Unions Act, Cap. T14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (as amended).
