The family of the late Magaji Lauwali Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State has described the loss of their patriarch as painful, calling on the judiciary to ensure that justice is served in the case.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Anas Magaji Lauwali Yandoto made the appeal in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau on Wednesday.

“We are still grappling with the painful loss of our beloved father, who was brutally murdered. We wish to provide an update on the pursuit of justice and express our continued concerns,” the statement read in part.

The family commended Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for his swift intervention and commitment to ensuring that all those found guilty of the crime are brought to justice.

However, they expressed concern over what they described as delays in the judicial process, noting that the case had faced several setbacks.

“Previously, we wrote to Governor Dauda Lawal to remind him of his promise, expressing our specific concern that the accused, Retired Col. Rabiu Yandoto, had been granted bail and was moving freely without facing trial,” the statement said.

“We are therefore relieved to confirm that the Ministry of Justice has now arraigned him before a competent court.”

According to the family, Wednesday, October 15, marked the first court sitting. However, the government prosecutor was absent due to another court engagement, prompting the court to adjourn the case until November 20.

“We noticed that several human rights organizations and groups attended the proceedings as watching briefs, and we are grateful for their vigilance,” the statement added.

The family expressed confidence in the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal and in the presiding judge’s capacity to ensure fairness and deliver justice.

“We have full confidence that the government of Governor Dauda Lawal will handle this case fairly, as its sole interest is justice,” they stated.

“We also have faith in the presiding judge’s ability to deliver a just verdict, given their esteemed track record. We believe that under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, justice will ultimately be served.”

The family further appreciated the support and prayers of relatives, well-wishers, and concerned organizations.

“We would like to inform all well-wishers, relatives, and concerned groups that the accused has been formally arraigned. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and prayers during this difficult time,” Anas Yandoto added.
