The Chairman of Funtua Local Government, Alhaji Abdulmutallab Sulaiman Goya, has commended the unwavering commitment of health workers across the area and urged them to intensify their efforts to enhance healthcare delivery.

In a statement signed by the Information Officer of Funtua Local Government, Bashir Yero, the Chairman, who was represented by the Councillor in charge of the Health Department, Hon. Bara’u Mai Kwai Dukke, stated that the local government had provided all the necessary support requested by the health department to ensure the successful implementation of the ongoing Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign and other routine immunization programmes.

He reiterated the council’s commitment to supporting the health sector in carrying out its responsibilities effectively, especially in the areas of routine immunization and disease prevention.

Also speaking at the event, the District Head of Funtua, Alhaji Sambo Idris Sambo, represented by Alhaji Abubakar Sani, assured of the traditional institution’s full support for government health policies and programmes. He commended both the Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda (PhD), and the Funtua Local Government Chairman for their dedication to improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

The District Head also extended gratitude to international donor organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and other development partners for their vital contributions to public health in the region.

In their separate remarks, the Director of the Physical and Healthcare Department, Alhaji Sa’adu Haruna; the LGA Facilitator, Abubakar Sani Tambaya; the Local Government Immunization Officer (L.I.O), Salihu Hussaini; and the Health Educator, Ma’aruf Abdulkarim, all expressed deep appreciation to the local government chairman for his consistent support of the health sector. They acknowledged that his leadership has significantly contributed to the smooth and effective rollout of immunization campaigns in the area.

According to Salihu Hussaini, the Local Government Immunization Officer, the ongoing vaccination campaign targets several preventable diseases, with vaccines and essential medical supplies already received and distributed. He commended international health organizations for their continuous support in boosting local immunization coverage and strengthening the public healthcare system.

The event underscored a shared commitment among government officials, traditional leaders, healthcare professionals, and international partners to improve the well-being of residents in Funtua through preventive health services and sustained community engagement.
