President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s national security framework.
The closed-door meeting followed last week’s announcement of the new military appointments, which the Presidency described as part of the President’s efforts to enhance professionalism, efficiency, and morale within the Armed Forces.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Wahid Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas.
Although details of the discussions were not disclosed, sources close to the Presidency said the meeting focused on strategies to tackle the country’s persistent security challenges and improve inter-service cooperation.
President Tinubu is expected to issue fresh directives to the new military leadership in the coming days, as part of his broader agenda to strengthen the nation’s defence and internal security systems.
