A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Special Assistant on Mobilisation, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Ibrahim (Hamdala), has said the Umar Bago administration is committed to uplifting the poor by bringing governance closer to them.
Hamdala stated this at the Niger State House of Assembly shortly after the screening of commissioner-nominees sent by the governor to the legislature.
He explained that Governor Umar Bago, who he described as a leader attentive to the concerns of the people, dissolved the former State Executive Council and submitted a fresh list of nominees consisting of new faces along with a few returning commissioners. According to him, the move was aimed at improving the efficiency of governance and reminding political appointees of the enormous responsibilities before them.
“Government is not just about the governor; it includes all stakeholders involved in managing public affairs,” Hamdala said. He stressed that every public office holder — from commissioners to advisers and assistants — must remain focused on serving the people and supporting the administration in delivering on its mandate.
Hamdala also highlighted the security challenges facing Niger North, describing the situation as urgent and requiring coordinated action. He called on federal lawmakers and all political office holders to rally behind Governor Bago in tackling banditry and other forms of insecurity that have disrupted farming and made rural communities unsafe.
“We must unite and work together to ensure the success of Governor Bago’s efforts to end the security crisis in the state,” he said.
Addressing concerns among APC members who feel unrewarded for their contributions to the party, Hamdala said the administration believes in patience and promised that loyal members will eventually reap the benefits of democracy.
He congratulated the newly screened commissioners and urged them to remain committed to improving government performance and engaging effectively with citizens to achieve sustainable development.
