Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Monday held a closed-door meeting with all six first-class Emirs of the state in a strategic effort to deepen collaboration with the traditional institution.
The meeting, which took place at the Government House, Bauchi, was convened at the Governor’s instance and attended by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, Emir of Bauchi, His Royal Highness, Umar Faruk II, Emir of Katagum, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmad Sulaiman, Emir of Misau, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmad Wabi, Emir of Jama’are, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, Emir of Ningi and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, Emir of Dass.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, explained that the engagement formed part of ongoing consultations with traditional leaders, particularly in view of the recent creation of additional emirates in the state.
According to Hammayo, the Governor emphasised the need for sustained synergy between the government and traditional rulers to ensure smooth integration and effective governance at all levels.
"It was a fruitful discussion that reaffirmed the administration's commitment to preserving the dignity and relevance of our royal fathers," Hammayo stated.
Governor Bala Mohammed charged the emirs to continue operating within the confines of the law while supporting government efforts to promote peace, unity, and development across Bauchi State.
The meeting, according to the Governor's aide on communication, Mallam Abdulwahab Mohammed, underscored the administration's recognition of the traditional institution as a vital partner in governance, stability, and grassroots development.
