The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, wanted over an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of funds totalling $14.8 million.

In a public notice issued on Monday, the anti-graft agency stated that the case relates to funds reportedly provided by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

The EFCC said the notice follows a warrant of arrest issued by the Lagos State High Court on November 6, 2025.

“The public is hereby notified that Timipre Sylva, former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former Governor of Bayelsa State, is wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257,” the notice, signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, stated.

The Commission urged anyone with information about Sylva’s whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide, report to the nearest police station, or notify other security agencies.

EFCC offices in cities including Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Kaduna are listed as contact points. The Commission also provided a hotline and email address for information sharing: 08093322644 and info@efcc.gov.ng. Additional offices include Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Enugu, Gombe, and Florin.
