The Bala Wunti Tech Fellows have recorded a major milestone at HackJos 2025, Northern Nigeria's leading technology innovation challenge, by winning three of the top four positions in a contest featuring hundreds of participants from across the region.
The fellows, supported by the Bauchi-based charity organisation, Wunti Al-Khair Foundation (WAKF), impressed judges with innovative solutions targeting financial inclusion, tax compliance, logistics, and agricultural commerce.
The achievement was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Isiyaka Isma'il Wunti, a volunteer media assistant at the foundation.
He quoted the Foundation's Director of Programmes, Ango Mustapha, as saying the victory reflects WAKF's commitment to promoting practical, technology-driven solutions to Nigeria's economic challenges.
Mustapha highlighted the winning projects, which include Agriault, Agro Marketplace & Smart Storage. An e-commerce and financial-inclusion platform for farmers and agro-producers; Haraj, Simplifying Tax for Every Business. A tax compliance and productivity tool targeting businesses and MSMEs; and Smart Digital Waybill Platform. A logistics and last-mile delivery solution aimed at improving goods movement across the region.
"The performance of our Fellows at HackJos 2025 validates our belief that empowering young people with technical skills and a problem-solving mindset is the fastest route to sustainable economic development," Mustapha said.
He added that the featured innovations are scalable, practical solutions capable of strengthening the economic resilience and growth of Northern in the MSME ecosystem.
The foundation also pledged continued support, offering seed funding, business mentorship, and investor-network access to help the winning teams transform their prototypes into viable, revenue-generating ventures.
"These wins demonstrate the region’s immense innovative potential. We are proud of our Fellows and look forward to seeing their solutions create real-world impact," Mustapha added.
WAKF noted that the Fellows' success underscores the value of its strategic investment in challenge-driven learning, proving that world-class innovation can emerge from Northern Nigeria.
