A political pressure group, the North East APC Youth Ambassadors, has urged stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State and across Nigeria to rally behind Senator Shehu Buba Umar as the party's preferred candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.
The group cited the senator's loyalty, dedication, and outstanding service to both the party and the people as key reasons for their endorsement.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, the group's Zonal Chairman, Comrade Haruna Usman Muhammad, said that despite the APC being in opposition in Bauchi State, Senator Shehu Buba Umar's commitment, his leadership style, and tireless grassroots engagement have significantly strengthened the party's structure and popularity across the state.
According to him, Shehu Buba,Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has been instrumental in expanding the APC's grassroots base, making the party more acceptable and competitive ahead of future elections.
"He is one of the few leaders who genuinely serve the people beyond expectations. The love and gratitude he enjoys among the people explain the growing acceptance of the APC in Bauchi State. If the party truly wants to reclaim power from the PDP in 2027, Senator Shehu Buba Umar remains the most credible option," Haruna stated.
He described the Senator as a committed and visionary leader with a deep passion for the development of Bauchi State, noting that his experience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to public service qualify him to lead the state effectively.
Haruna further noted that Senator Shehu Buba Umar has a proven track record of impactful interventions, policies, and initiatives that have positively affected communities across the state. He emphasised that the Senator consistently prioritizes the welfare of his constituents and possesses the integrity, vision, and leadership capacity required to address the pressing challenges facing Bauchi State.
The group also commended Senator Buba for his steadfast support in safeguarding the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Bauchi State. According to Haruna, the Senator has played a key role in organising enlightenment and mobilisation programs aimed at educating the people on the President's vision and mission for national development.
He observed that Senator Shehu Buba Umar stands out as one of the most committed APC leaders in the state, citing his personal sacrifices and sustained moral and financial support to the party and its members. "His commitment goes beyond words. Senator Buba has consistently supported the APC and its members, working tirelessly to address the party's challenges in Bauchi State," he added.
The group called on Senator Shehu Buba Umar to heed their appeal and declare his intention to contest the Bauchi State governorship seat in the 2027 general elections, describing him as a loyal leader devoted to unity, development, and good governance.
"We have carefully studied the political terrain and are convinced that Senator Shehu Buba Umar is honest, courageous, and deeply connected to the grassroots. He understands the culture, values, and dignity of the people of Bauchi State," Haruna said.
Haruna also recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had commended Senator Shehu Buba Umar following the warm reception accorded him during his condolence visit to Bauchi State over the passing of the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
According to him, the President expressed appreciation for the organization, enthusiasm, and hospitality displayed by the people of Bauchi, particularly supporters of Senator Shehu Buba Umar. The President reportedly noted the overwhelming show of support from the airport through major routes in Bauchi city, with crowds displaying portraits of both leaders.
He said President Tinubu observed that the most visible and coordinated show of solidarity during the visit came from supporters of the Bauchi South senator, noting that Senator Shehu Buba Umar stood out as the only leader whose supporters prominently showcased campaign materials reflecting shared political vision and loyalty.
The President reportedly described the reception as heartwarming and encouraging, saying it reflected the depth of trust, love, and confidence the people of Bauchi State repose in the senator.
The North East APC Youth Ambassadors pledged their full commitment to mobilizing, campaigning, and canvassing votes across the state in support of Senator Shehu Buba Umar's governorship ambition.
"We are hopeful that he will answer our call. Once he does, we are fully prepared to support him all the way," Haruna concluded.
