The office of the Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, in collaboration with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, has distributed food items to women groups and churches across the state in support of the 2025 Christmas celebrations.
The distribution exercise was held yesterday at the Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi. Items distributed during the exercise included 250 bags of rice, 24 cartons of vegetable oil, 25 cows, and 14 bags of sugar.
Speaking during the distribution, the Bauchi State First Lady, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, described Christmas as a season that promotes love, care, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to sustaining people-oriented development programmes, with particular emphasis on the empowerment and welfare of women and children.
Aisha explained that the food items were distributed to women groups and churches for onward distribution to their members, noting that the gesture was aimed at supporting vulnerable persons during the festive season and beyond, as the state prepares to usher in the new year.
She urged beneficiaries to ensure transparent and judicious distribution of the items, and advised parents, especially mothers and caregivers to closely guide and monitor their children in order to instill discipline, positive values, and responsible leadership.
The First Lady also called on residents to use the Christmas season to pray for peace in Bauchi State and the nation, as well as for the wellbeing of families and children.
For his part, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Dr. Lydia Haruna Tsanmani, said the Ministry, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, has remained consistent in supporting Christmas celebrations through the distribution of relief materials to ease the burden on beneficiaries.
Dr. Tsanmani appealed to recipients to make proper use of the items and expressed optimism that the initiative would contribute to a peaceful and joyous Christmas celebration across Bauchi State.
