A member of the Niger State House of Assembly representing Kontagora II Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Isah, has urged residents of the area to unite with security agencies and the government to address the persistent insecurity in the state.
The lawmaker made the call at the conclusion of a special prayer session organised by residents of Kontagora II, following growing concerns over the deteriorating security situation, which he said has disrupted daily socio-economic activities.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Isah stressed that security is a collective responsibility and cannot be left solely to government or security agencies. He called on community members, traditional stakeholders and the less privileged to work together, support government policies and foster mutual understanding in order to restore peace.
“We will not succeed unless we work together. The development and prosperity of Niger State can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and unity,” he said.
The lawmaker described the security situation in the state as “sad” but acknowledged the efforts of the Niger State Government under Governor Umar Mohammed Bago to curb insecurity. He urged residents to complement government efforts through prayers, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
Hon. Isah also encouraged residents to remain vigilant, listen to differing opinions within the community and report any suspicious activities or unresolved concerns to security agencies.
He commended the people of Yamma Ward in Kontagora Local Government Area for organising the special prayer session and expressed hope that the prayers offered would yield positive results.
The event was attended by community stakeholders, religious leaders and youths from Yamma Ward and was described as peaceful and successful.
