The World Health Organization (WHO) has commended Kaduna State for its preparedness in the ongoing December 2025 Polio Immunization Exercise, which is being conducted across all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The praise came from the WHO State Coordinator, Dr. Abede Mohammed, after he observed a road show organized by the Journalist Initiative on Immunization Against Polio (JAP) in Kawo Community, Kaduna North Local Government Area.

“All critical requirements for the immunization exercise, including logistics, vaccines, and trained personnel, had been adequately put in place before the commencement of the exercise,” Dr. Mohammed said.

He described the road show as a strategic advocacy effort aimed at mobilizing communities and creating awareness on the importance of polio vaccination, calling the initiative timely and impactful. “Real-time data from the WHO dashboard shows that the exercise is progressing smoothly across the state, with impressive coverage and compliance from communities,” he added.

While commending the efforts of the Kaduna State Government and health workers at all levels, Dr. Mohammed also praised JAP for supporting public enlightenment and community engagement through the road show.

However, he urged all Local Government Areas to ensure the timely release of their counterpart funding, stressing that adequate financing is crucial for effective supervision, monitoring, and the overall success of the exercise.

Also speaking, the District Head of Kawo, Alhaji Jibrin Mohammed Magaji, through the village head, Alhaji Dahiru Yahaya, urged all parents to avail their children for polio vaccination, emphasizing its importance to the health and well-being of children.

He commended the WHO, the Kaduna State Government, and other supporting partners for taking public health matters seriously.
