Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, alongside supporters of the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, have advised eligible voters to make effective use of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the 2027 general elections.
The call was made in Bauchi during the commissioning of 40 solar-powered boreholes constructed by Senator Shehu Buba Umar across seven Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, former Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Alhaji Yusuf Musa Gimli, and Alhaji Aminu Muhammad Danmalikin Bauchi, urged Nigerians to register and collect their PVCs ahead of the elections, describing the voter's card as the most powerful instrument for promoting good governance and curbing electoral malpractice.
According to them, the PVC remains the key tool for building a better Bauchi State and for rewarding leaders who deliver tangible dividends of democracy.
"The PVC remains the strongest weapon for strengthening democracy and rewarding Senator Shehu Buba Umar for his good works, interventions, and the dividends of democracy he has delivered. Voters must resist selling their votes to corrupt politicians," they said.
They appealed to electorates, both young and old, to take responsibility for the future of the state by actively participating in the democratic process.
"The future of Bauchi State is in your hands. The greatest strength of democracy lies in the voter's card. Senator Buba is a unifier, and with the fear of Allah, he will work for the entire state with justice and fairness," they added.
The APC leaders further urged voters to register, collect, and safeguard their PVCs, and to vote for leaders of competence, character, capacity, and compassion, while warning against intimidation, deception, and vote-buying.
Senator Shehu Buba Umar also commissioned 40 solar-powered boreholes constructed across seven Local Government Areas of Bauchi State, as part of his constituency rural water supply project.
The distribution of the boreholes is as follows Bauchi Local Government Area - 15 boreholes, Toro Local Government Area - 7 boreholes, Alkaleri, Kirfi, and Tafawa Balewa LGAs - 4 boreholes each
Dass and Bogoro LGAs - 3 boreholes each.
The project marks a significant milestone in efforts to improve access to clean and safe drinking water across the Bauchi South Senatorial District.
Commissioning the projects, Senator Shehu Buba Umar said the boreholes were an immediate response to requests made by communities during his electioneering campaigns.
"During our campaigns, we visited 72 out of the 75 wards in this constituency, and everywhere we went, people asked for potable water. I promised to do something about it, and today we are delivering these 40 boreholes through constituency projects," he said.
The senator added that beyond these projects, he has also personally rehabilitated, repaired, and constructed several boreholes across the state using his personal resources.
He noted that the initiative forms part of several quick-impact projects aimed at improving public health, promoting good hygiene, and reducing waterborne diseases.
Leaders and residents of the benefiting Local Government Areas expressed gratitude to Senator Shehu Buba Umar for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention. They offered prayers for his continued success and pledged their support for further development initiatives.
The project, they said, underscores the senator's commitment to improving the living conditions of his constituents and addressing their basic needs.
