The Niger State Shura Committee has held a meeting in preparation for the forthcoming Ramadan, with a focus on ensuring a peaceful, united, and spiritually rewarding observance across the state.

The meeting, presided over by Shaikh Liman Yakatun, Chief Imam of the Bida Central Mosque and Chairman of the Shura Standing Committee, brought together key Islamic scholars and stakeholders to deliberate on issues surrounding the holy month.

Following extensive discussions, the committee called on Islamic scholars and clerics to conduct Tafsir sessions with wisdom, tolerance, and mutual respect, cautioning against actions or utterances that could trigger disunity. Members also emphasized the importance of relying on widely recognized Tafsir texts to enhance effective community enlightenment.

The committee further resolved to engage relevant marketers and stakeholders as part of efforts to ease the economic challenges faced by residents during Ramadan.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the Committee, Imam (Dr.) Umar Farooq Abdullahi, MPI, appealed to the state government to revive the traditional Iftar centres, describing them as vital platforms for grassroots outreach and support. The proposal was unanimously endorsed by the committee, which noted that the initiative would promote unity, compassion, and social solidarity throughout the holy month.
