The National Director of Media, KAUTAL Polaaku Fulbe Association of Nigeria, Munkaila Bala Bayero (Pullo), has challenged Fulani leaders over what he described as their failure to unite in addressing the challenges facing the Fulani people across Nigeria.
Bayero said Fulani communities are currently confronted with serious problems, including insecurity, marginalisation, poverty, and loss of dignity, yet their leadership remains fragmented by associations, titles, and personal ambitions.
According to him, the lack of unity among Fulani leaders has weakened their collective voice and delayed meaningful solutions to the pressing issues affecting the people.
“It must be stated clearly that no association is more important than the Fulani people themselves,” Bayero said.
He criticised some leaders for prioritising the expansion of their organisations over the welfare of Fulani communities, describing such actions as self-serving rather than genuine leadership.
“As elections approach, this disunity makes us vulnerable to political manipulation,” he warned. “When Fulani leaders speak separately, our people suffer. When they speak with one voice, the nation listens.”
Bayero stressed that unity does not require abandoning existing associations, but rather agreeing on a common agenda that places Fulani welfare above individual or group interests.
Describing his remarks as both a warning and an appeal, he cautioned that leaders who continue to put personal ambition ahead of collective progress risk losing the trust and support of the masses.
“Authority is not permanent. Relevance is earned through service,” he added.
He urged Fulani leaders to come together ahead of the elections to present a clear and united direction, enabling the public to distinguish between those genuinely committed to Fulani advancement and those driven solely by personal agendas.
“The future of the Fulani people depends on unity,” Bayero said. “The time to act is now.”
