The funeral of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Usman Kusfa, popularly known as Rigi-Rigi, was held on Monday evening, February 2, 2026, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Sheikh Usman Kusfa passed away on Sunday night after a brief illness at the Nigerian Army 44 Reference Hospital in Kaduna. His demise has plunged the community into deep mourning, particularly among his followers and students.
Thousands of mourners, comprising men and women from different parts of the state and beyond, attended the funeral prayer, which was led by the Chief Imam of Zazzau, Malam Dalhatu Qasim Imam.
The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Ambassador Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, was among the prominent dignitaries who attended the burial to pay their last respects and commiserate with the family of the late cleric.
The late Sheikh Usman Kusfa died at the age of 57. He is survived by four wives and 37 children. He was a native of Kusfa town in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Following the funeral prayers, the deceased was laid to rest at his zawiyya in Unguwar Kusfa, Zaria.
Prayers were offered for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal mercy, and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.
