Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday blocked access to the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the operatives arrived in about five buses and took control of Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street, effectively sealing off the area.
Residents and visitors were reportedly denied entry as the anti-graft agency mounted a heavy security presence around the neighbourhood.
Sources said the operation was led by an EFCC official identified as Folarin Dare, with personnel seen wearing the commission’s red and black jackets and carrying arms.
Access to Malami’s residence at No. 2 Koranakh Close was restricted, as operatives took over the surrounding vicinity.
The EFCC has yet to issue an official statement on the development. However, the action is believed to be connected to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial impropriety.
