A political stakeholder and Deputy National Convener of the One North Movement, Alhaji Sani Ahmad, has urged state governors and political appointees nationwide to intensify efforts in communicating the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the public.
Ahmad, who is also the National Chairman of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu Continuity 2027, made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday to commemorate the President’s 74th birthday.
He congratulated Tinubu on the occasion, describing him as a courageous and visionary leader committed to driving Nigeria toward long-term prosperity despite prevailing economic and political challenges.
“Today, we celebrate a courageous leader whose vision and unwavering commitment to national development continue to steer Nigeria toward sustainable progress,” he said.
Ahmad praised the President for taking what he termed “difficult but necessary decisions,” noting that ongoing reforms are already laying the groundwork for economic stability and growth.
He acknowledged that some of the policies may be politically sensitive and come with short-term challenges but stressed that they are essential for addressing structural issues in the nation’s economy.
The political figure also highlighted Tinubu’s leadership style, particularly his ability to promote cross-party collaboration, which he said has contributed to increasing political realignments in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the administration’s inclusive approach has fostered cooperation across political divides in pursuit of national development.
However, Ahmad expressed concern over what he described as a communication gap at the state level, arguing that many Nigerians remain insufficiently informed about the administration’s achievements.
“It is imperative that governors rise to their responsibility by properly informing their citizens about the achievements and positive strides of this administration. The people deserve to know the efforts being made at the federal level to improve their lives,” he said.
He warned that failure by state governments and public office holders to effectively communicate federal policies and successes could erode public trust and awareness.
Ahmad further noted that persistent lapses in governance communication could prompt legal measures to ensure accountability and transparency, although he did not provide further details.
Observers say the comments reflect increasing efforts by pro-Tinubu groups to consolidate support for the administration ahead of future elections, particularly amid ongoing economic reforms.
Since assuming office in May 2023, President Tinubu has introduced several policy measures, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange system, aimed at stabilising the economy and attracting investment.
The administration has also prioritised infrastructure development, social intervention programmes, and security operations to address challenges across the country.
Ahmad concluded by wishing the President good health, wisdom, and success in steering Nigeria through its ongoing transformation.
